The opportunity came may way to participate in UMB's Piggy Bank Parade, benefiting the ArtsKC Fund. The task at hand was to take the piggy bank handed out to all participants and design it/decorate it, anyway we wanted to. With encouragement to think Kansas City culture. Jazz was an obvious way to go, but it spoke to my heart. I couldn't pass up an opportunity to turn on some Charlie Parker and do some Jazz inspired art for this great cause.
You'll see below one side of the piggy bank has an illustration of a sax player blowin' away, and the other side has "Live Jazz" sign that actually lights up. I used some illuminating wire, and balsa wood to create that mini neon sign.
I can't help but to brag that this little guy ended up the highest earning piggy bank. The highest bidder was $250, all going to the ArtsKC Fund.
